There are never too many people to love a child

I have worked with so many birth moms that knew they wanted to make an open adoption plan but were unsure exactly what that would look like. I have seen birth mothers and adoptive parents unsure of how things would work out yet stepped into this thing called open adoption with the best and most sincere intentions. What was scary and uncharted territory evolved into this relationship based on mutual respect and trust. In one recent situation, it was amazing to see the how things developed, the trust grew and even family members from both side became involved with each other. The adoptive parents got to know their future child's siblings and even spent time with the birth mother's mother. The adoptive parents friends and family sent notes and letters of support to the birth mom. As I always say, there are never TOO many people loving a child!

This open adoption may be TOO open for some birth moms, but it is certainly an wonderful example of how things can turn out. The beauty of making an adoption plan is that you choose how you want things to play out. Perhaps you want to move slowly and take your time deciding how much involvement you want with the adoptive family. That is why we say YOUR ADOPTION YOUR CHOICE!
